Welcome to my studio page!
I have been teaching private voice lessons for over 15 years. My approach to teaching involves helping my students develop a healthy vocal technique, which includes understanding basic vocal function and health, exercising and strengthening the full vocal range, practicing appropriate breathing and support, and developing awareness.
Everyone's voice is unique. My job is to guide you in exploring and understanding your individual instrument, and how to apply your technique to a variety of musical styles including (but not limited to) classical, musical theater, pop, rock, jazz and gospel/R&B.
I was on the voice faculty at UC Davis for three years, and taught privately in the Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Areas. In 2008, I moved back to my hometown of Falls Church, and have been teaching locally since then.
I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Music Teachers National Association/Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association (MTNA/NVMTA), and have a Level III Certification in Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method.
In addition to singing, students will learn how to read music and explore basic music theory - an essential element for becoming a good musician!
